Head of Marketing
CV Screen were approached to source a Head of Marketing for a start-up Tech company. The role was a home based role with monthly catch ups in London with the team.
The job description stated that the successful candidate should have previous experience within a start-up organisation and experience of working within a Software as a Service (SAAS) business. The role would initially manage a team of two, with the expectation that this would increase over the next 12 months.
Our advert focussed on candidates who had the current job title of Head of Marketing or Marketing Manager with SaaS experience. The challenge was where to advertise the role as it was a remote based position (with the requirement to travel to London on an ad hoc basis), so we tried a couple of adverts to attract candidates.
The quality of applicants was excellent, with candidates now regularly searching for the word Remote whilst job hunting and we received over ten applications who on paper had an excellent fit for the role.
When we spoke to these candidates, it became apparent that some were looking to manage a larger marketing department and that narrowed it down to four suitable candidates. Our expertise in using Boolean keywords, also helped us to identify a further three candidates who had the SaaS experience within a startup environment.
After submitting seven candidates, we secured four interviews, placing Mia in the role.
Mia had worked as a Marketing Manager within two start-ups, one of which was a Software Company which had grown dramatically over her two years within the business.
She was looking for a remote based role as her current role required a minimum of three days a week in the office and our opportunity was ideal.
Mia’s previous experience of growing the marketing department from two to six was of particular interest to our client and after three interviews she secured the role.
